My Last Night In Bombay

A few minutes before my plane took off from LAX six months ago, a good friend sent me the following text message: "Write. Read. Sleep. Stretch." And while a few additional words come to mind (Travel. Eat. Think. Sick. Drink. Hot. Listen. Dance.), those four texted words were the foundation of my time in India.

It's my last full night here (after which I will wake up in India)...and the words aren't coming. Still, I'll try.

Tonight I had dinner at Masala Bay. Although my birthday isn't for another few days, they know that I'm leaving tomorrow night and brought me out a cake. I stared at the candle for a long time...It's hard to make a wish when you just spent the past six months living out the thing you'd wished for most of your life.

I thought it might make me a little sad, but it didn't. It made me feel hopeful. There is so much that we can do during our short little lives that we can't waste time. If we want something, we have to go for it. No matter how impossible it seems...it's possible.

It's times like these that I think about everyone who has influenced me, helped me, loved me, supported me, believed in me, counseled me, and made their own meaningful stroke of color in my life. I am so thankful.

Much love to my little sister who's in the hospital (some say she's so excited I'm coming home that it made her sick). She's been my rock the past six months...and the reason for too, too much laughter. I love you, Pookie.

All right, this sentimental entry has been about as self-indulgent as a Lindsay Buckingham song, so I'm going to say good night.

Much love.

I almost got run over by one of these last night...

...a "Goods Carrier" truck. To which I responded, "I can't believe I'm three days away from coming home and I almost got run over by a 'Goods Carrier' truck."
